Trump Warns of Walz’s Potential Early Exit from Office

President Donald Trump has made a scathing prediction about Governor Tim Walz’s future even as federal agents swarm the Twin Cities for immigration enforcement.

Amid swirling allegations of massive fraud in state programs, Trump took to Truth Social to comment on Walz’s recent announcement that he won’t seek another term, predicting that he may even leave office early due to the scandal.

Billions in federal and state funds were allegedly siphoned off through fraudulent public benefit schemes, and Minnesotans don't know whether the result will be higher taxes or slashed services for hardworking families already stretched thin.

Fraud Allegations Rock Minnesota’s Core

The trouble started brewing months ago, with reports of large-scale fraud tied to public benefit programs under Walz’s watch. Much of the scrutiny has centered on daycare and food program scams, with federal officials claiming the stolen funds could reach into the billions.

As many as 85 Somali migrants have been charged in connection with these schemes, and 60 have already been convicted, according to federal reports. This isn’t about pointing fingers at a community—it’s about ensuring accountability for every individual involved in defrauding the system.

Adding fuel to the fire, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has come under the spotlight due to ties with individuals and businesses linked to the investigations. Her husband’s firm, Rose Lake Capital, even scrubbed names from its website as the probes intensified—a move that raises eyebrows, to say the least.

Federal Response Shakes Up the State

The Trump administration isn’t sitting idly by, with the Department of Health and Human Services freezing childcare payments to Minnesota over what it calls “blatant fraud.” An audit is underway, and Deputy HHS Secretary Jim O’Neill is demanding documentation for every federal dollar spent, while also launching a national fraud-reporting hotline.

On the ground, the Department of Homeland Security has deployed about 2,000 federal agents to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for a 30-day immigration enforcement operation. This surge, involving Homeland Security Investigations and ICE teams, might expand as more fraud cases come to light.

Citizen journalist Nick Shirley has also exposed empty centers still receiving public funds, including one with a sign so poorly written it misspelled “Learning” as “Learing.”

Trump’s Fiery Take on Walz’s Future

Trump didn’t hold back in his Truth Social post, declaring, “Minnesota’s Corrupt Governor will possibly leave office before his Term is up but, in any event, will not be running again because he was caught, REDHANDED.”

Walz fired back, stating, “Trump’s using an issue he doesn’t give a damn about as an excuse to hurt working Minnesotans.” With all due respect to the governor, dismissing this as a political stunt ignores the very real dollars lost and the very real need for answers.

Politically, Walz’s decision not to run again has sparked chatter about a potential strategy involving Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). Some speculate she could run for governor with a clear path, given her Senate term lasts until 2030.

Political Maneuvering or Genuine Exit?

Columnist Dustin Grage from Townhall floated the idea that if Klobuchar wins the governorship, she might appoint Walz to her Senate seat. That’s a neat trick—keeping him in office without facing voters directly. Conservatives should be wary of backroom deals that sidestep accountability.

At the end of the day, Minnesota’s citizens deserve transparency, not political gamesmanship. The fraud allegations, federal crackdowns, and immigration surges paint a troubling picture of governance under Walz that needs to end, sooner rather than later.
