Trump warns that Elon Musk's new political party will create 'chaos' and 'total disruption'
Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk made headlines this past weekend when he announced the creation of a new political party.
The move brought condemnation from President Donald Trump, who accused his former ally of "becoming a train wreck."
President says new party will create "chaos" and "total disruption"
According to The Hill, Trump leveled that allegation in a post which he made to his Truth Social platform on Sunday afternoon.
"I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks," the president wrote.
"He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – The System seems not designed for them," he continued.
"The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION [and] CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!" Trump insisted.
Trump to reporter: "I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party"
The Hill pointed out how just prior to putting up the post, Trump expressed similar sentiments while speaking with reporters near Air Force One.

"I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party," the president stated before later adding, "So he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous."
Trump's words came just one day after Musk Breitbart reported that Musk revealed the creation of his new "America Party."
Musk suggests focusing "on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts"
"When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste [and] graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," Breitbart quoted him as saying in a statement.
On Friday, Musk put up an X post in which he suggested targeting vulnerable GOP lawmakers in response to their support for Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill."
"One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts," Musk explained.
The billionaire has engaged in a public feud with Trump over the legislation, arguing that it will needlessly add to America's growing debt.
