Trump withdraws his endorsement and support from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene following her critical attacks

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) once ranked among President Donald Trump's most ardent backers in the House, but that support appears to have wavered substantially over the past few months as the congresswoman has increasingly sided with Democrats on a handful of key issues.

On Friday, Trump appeared to finally have had enough, as he announced on social media that he had withdrawn his support and rescinded his endorsement of Greene, according to the Washington Examiner.

The Georgia congresswoman did not take the loss of support well, as she lashed back with a critical attack against the president that linked his move to a purported cover-up of the government's files on the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump is done with Greene

In a Friday evening Truth Social post, President Trump announced, "I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of 'Congresswoman' Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the Great State of Georgia."

Trump pointed out that despite his "record achievements" since retaking office in January, which he listed off at length, "all I see 'Wacky' Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!"

"It seemed to all begin when I sent her a Poll stating that she should not run for Senator, or Governor, she was at 12%, and didn’t have a chance (unless, of course, she had my Endorsement -- which she wasn’t about to get!)," he explained.

"She has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore," the president continued, "but with 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day."

"I understand that wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia, that they too are fed up with her and her antics and, if the right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support," Trump added. "She has gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors."

Greene fires back, links move to Epstein files

Less than an hour later, Rep. Greene hit back in a lengthy X post, in which she wrote that President Trump "just attacked me and lied about me," and that it was "the Epstein files" that "sent him over the edge."

"And of course he’s coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next weeks vote to release the Epstein files," she continued. "It’s astonishing really how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level."

"But really most Americans wish he would fight this hard to help the forgotten men and women of America who are fed up with foreign wars and foreign causes, are going broke trying to feed their families, and are losing hope of ever achieving the American dream," Greene asserted. "That’s what I voted for."

"I have supported President Trump with too much of my precious time, too much of my own money, and fought harder for him even when almost all other Republicans turned their back and denounced him," the congresswoman said. "But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my district GA14 and the American people."

"I remain the same today as I’ve always been and I will continue to pray this administration will be successful because the American people desperately deserve what they voted for," she added. "For me, I remain America First and America Only!!!"

Why did Trump just end his support of Greene?

The Examiner noted that in addition to being one of just a few House Republicans to join Democrats in demanding a release of the government's Epstein files -- which have largely been blocked by multiple courts -- Rep. Greene has also sided with her colleagues on the left on a few other important issues.

She was harshly critical of the administration's handling of the government shutdown, echoed Democrats' cries about expiring Obamacare subsidies, and has been sharply dismissive of President Trump's notable achievements and intense focus on foreign affairs and trade.

Indeed, it was just days earlier that Trump had lamented to reporters that his once-staunch supporter in the House from Georgia had "lost her way" and joined the other side in attacking and critiquing him, as she's done on social media, with reporters, and during a recent appearance on "The View."
