During former President Joe Biden's time in the White House, his administration and Democrats worked to implement all kinds of senseless, anti-gun laws. Now, President Donald Trump is working overtime to undo them.

According to Newsmax, the Department of Justice announced this week that it has repealed a Biden-era "zero-tolerance" policy "which called for revoking the licenses of gun dealers who willfully committed serious violations such as failing to conduct background checks."

The order follows Trump's vow to undo many of the Biden-era, gun-related policies that many believe violate the Second Amendment.

According to the reports, the policy revoked was with regard to "the licenses of gun dealers if they willfully sold firearms to prohibited people such as convicted felons, failed to conduct background checks, falsified records or failed to respond to law enforcement requests to help trace firearms used to commit crimes."

What's going on?

Not surprisingly, anti-gun groups supported the Biden-era policy, saying it helped crack down on straw purchases and and gun trafficking.

However, pro-gun groups and businesses were not fans of the policy, arguing that it often resulted in shops being shut down over minor infractions, with people losing their businesses and livelihoods as a result.

Firearm advocacy groups, including Lawrence G. Keane, senior vice president of the NSSF, the Firearm Industry Trade Association, praised the DOJ for repealing the policy.

"This reckless policy throttled small businesses and drove many to shut down by threatening crippling administrative costs to fight against penalties for minor errors and infractions that were previously reconciled in good faith between ATF officials and law-abiding firearm retailers," Keane said.

Interestingly, the Gun Owners of America group announced the repealed policy before any official government announcement were made.

The Gun Owners of America is one of the nation's most far-right gun-rights advocacy groups and has called for abolishing the ATF and purging gun sales records that law enforcement agents use to help solve crimes.

Trump's orders

The president, upon taking office and fulfilling a campaign promise, has made it a mission to take a "wholesale look" at ATF policies that could be in violation of the Second Amendment.

Under Biden, the Second Amendment was steadily being erased.

Thank goodness we have a Republican president and GOP-led Congress to not only stop that, but reverse it.

It'll be interesting to see what other Biden-era, gun-related policies are erased under Trump.
