Trump's staff is turning on Elon Musk: report

Apparently, some members of President Donald Trump's White House staff are not too happy with Elon Musk.

A new report from the Daily Mail, in fact, indicates that Trump's chief of staff - Susie Wiles - has taken steps to keep Musk in line.

This comes amid other infighting regarding Trump, including a very direct attack on Musk by Steve Bannon. There will be more on this in a moment.

First, though, we'll look at how Wiles has reportedly cut Musk off.

Denied

According to the Daily Mail's report, Wiles has refused to grant Musk a West Wing office.

Per the outlet:

Donald Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles has issued a brutal takedown of Elon Musk as she refuses to grant him an office in the West Wing . . . Wiles, a 67-year-old veteran of GOP politics, saw her first victory on Trump's first day in office when he confirmed Musk would not have a desk in the West Wing.

The report goes on to claim that Musk was in fact pushing for a West Wing office.

The outlet writes:

Musk was reportedly pushing for his own room just yards from the Oval Office but his DOGE team will instead be based in the Eisenhower building, which is across the road from the White House.  The chief administrator of DOGE must also report to Wiles, a sign of her control over the White House.

Neither Trump nor Musk has publicly commented on the situation.

Background

Although Musk played a significant role in helping Trump win the 2024 presidential election, things have not exactly been smooth sailing between Musk and Trump personnel and supporters.

This is because Musk has already brought a lot of controversy to Trump's victory. There is, for example, the "co-president" controversy, where some tried to make the claim that it was actually Elon Musk who was running the White House - or at least Trump.

Then there was the H1-B visa controversy that Musk started. This appeared to set off one of Trump's most prominent supporters - Steve Bannon.

Bannon responded, saying:

I will have Elon Musk run out of here by Inauguration Day. He will not have full access to the White House. He will be like any other person. He is a truly evil guy, a very bad guy. I made it my personal thing to take this guy down. Before, because he put money in, I was prepared to tolerate it; I’m not prepared to tolerate it anymore.

It is unclear, at the time of this writing, where Trump and Musk's relationship stands.
