A fake news story claiming that former President Barack Obama was arrested spread like wildfire on Facebook this week and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson was blamed for the story, which it turns out he had nothing to do with.

On January 23rd, a post went up on Facebook that showed Obama being placed in a police vehicle by a law enforcement officer. The post was accompanied by an extremely long and questionable caption.

That caption stated, "BOMBSHELL REPORT BARRACK OBAMA WAS ARR3ST3D FOR CR1M3S AGAINST HUMANITY.TUCKER CARLSON EXP0SED THE FULL VIDEO ABOUT THE ARREST AND OBAMA ON HIS PRIVATE TELEGRAM CHANNEL!"

The post claimed that the source for the story was Carlson who immediately denied that claim as he did not have a Telegram and never reported an arrest taking place.

To further add suspicion to the story, users who wanted to see the video were directed to create a Telegram and follow Carlson's alleged account.

Smear job

This bombshell report that quickly spread on Facebook may very well have been an effort to smear Carlson who is popular for his straightforward and accurate reporting.

When USA Today reached out to Carlson for comment, he replied saying, "I've never posted anything about Obama getting arrested. It’s all false."

It was apparent from the get go that the story was completely fake and laughably so. Nonetheless, Carlson was forced to fend off accusations against him once again.

Carlson has been a target of the left for years as he emerged as one of former President Donald Trump's strongest allies and one of the greatest enemies of the progressive movement.

Carlson rose to fame because of his hard hitting journalism and brutal take downs of the left.

This cost him a lot as he had a target on his back and it eventually lost him his job at Fox News. When Fox News lost a massive lawsuit to Dominion Voting Systems, Carlson was made into a scapegoat and sent packing.

Can't stop Carlson

Despite the seemingly massive setback of losing his Fox News gig, Carlson became even more influential and Democrats are desperate to silence him and crush his influence.

Getting him fired and deplatformed failed, largely thanks to Elon Musk and X, so the next best weapon they can use is to discredit him.

What better a way to discredit an important journalist than to blame a massive fake news story on them.
