As former President Donald Trump and his lawyers battle their way through a seemingly never-ending onslaught of legal hurdles, many, including the former president, believe that it's nothing more than an attempt by the federal government to hamstring his election chances. 

Trump, who has experienced the effects of the government using its resources to hinder his ambitions, has claimed all along that the charges he faces are part of a larger political witch hunt against him.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who is wildly popular on X, formerly known as Twitter, recently warned of the "deep state" prepping its bag of tricks for the upcoming November election.

Carlson held nothing back as he recounted the ways that the government, including federal law enforcement agencies, have in some way, shape, or form meddled in Trump's personal and political business. And he warned that they're going to do it once again.

What did he say?

In a shortened clip from a recent episode of his hit X series, Carlson recounted what has already happened to Trump in the past.

"A few years we learned conclusively that, in fact, the FBI and the federal intel agencies -- the dozen or more federal intel agencies we have for some reason -- had been working secretly against Donald Trump's presidential campaign," Carlson began.

He added, "Trump had whispered about this, then shouted about it, and he was roundly denounced as a 'conspiracy nut,' a lunatic. But in the end he was vindicated. It was true, these agencies spied on Trump and they'd leaked some of what they learned to the media which used it against Trump."

Carlson continued by recalling that those agencies "concocted false stories about Trump" and tried to "crush Trump completely in 2016."

He noted that those agencies and the "deep state" conducted essentially the same operations in 2020, "and they're doing it still," explaining that they're now working on "putting him in prison for the rest of his life."

Social media reacts

Carlson's take on the situation, in that he believes Democrats are once again playing dirty to ensure Trump doesn't win in 2024, was praised by many social media users who wholeheartedly agree.

"I'm sure the feds are already creating a frame job for President Trump," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I think what he’s getting at is that they’ve already rigged the election for 2024."

Many of Trump's supporters have expressed interest in the possibility of Carlson running as Trump's vice president. While Carlson hasn't been on any of the VP shortlists in the headlines recently, anything's possible at this point.
