Unearthed video shows Obama criticizing shutdown 'blackmail'
A video has resurfaced of former President Barack Obama criticizing a past government shutdown as "irresponsible."
Fox News just posted the video on social media.
Take a look:
WATCH: A resurfaced video shows former President Obama slamming shutdowns as “irresponsible” and accusing Republicans of trying to "blackmail a president,” as the Democratic Party now faces accusations of doing just that.

A flashback
The video is from September 2013. Obama, of course, was still president at the time.
He said:
Think about this, shutting down the government just because you don’t like a law that was passed and found constitutional. No Congress before this one has ever, ever, in history, been irresponsible enough to threaten default, to threaten an economic shutdown, to suggest America not pay its bills just to try to blackmail a president into giving them some concessions.
In the video, Obama went on to say, "Congress needs to pay our bills on time. Congress needs to pass a budget on time. Congress needs to put an end to governing from crisis to crisis."
Fox notes that the 2013 shutdown only lasted about two weeks.
Obama, of course, has a different view of the current shutdown.
Hypocrisy?
The Democrats have now stopped the government from reopening the government more than a dozen times. As a result, SNAP benefits for millions of Americans are at risk.
Obama, however, continues to try to blame the situation on Republicans, including President Donald Trump, when both Republicans and Trump continue to try to reopen the government.
In one of his latest online posts, Obama wrote:
More than 47 million Americans — including one in five children — don’t have reliable, affordable access to nutritious food. And as the cost of living skyrockets, more families are depending on SNAP benefits, or food stamps, to put food on the table. Republicans need to act now to make sure those benefits are available to people who depend on them. If they don’t, millions of children, seniors, and low-income Americans will go hungry ahead of the holidays.
President Trump and Republicans, however, continue to place the blame on the Democrats.
There have been reports that some Democrats may be looking to cross the aisle in order to finally end the shutdown, but there have not really been any good indications that this will actually happen. The shutdown has been going on now for over a month, and there is still no end in sight.
