As tensions rise concerning America's possible takeover of a few territories, a few of the highest-ranking officials from the White House are scoping out what could be the real estate deal of the century.

Second Lady Usha Vance and other leaders from the United States have stated that they will be traveling to Greenland, as the Washington Examiner reported.

This comes at a time when President Donald Trump has his sights set on visiting the country, and maybe even aquiring it.

Vance is slated to leave for Greenland on Thursday, accompanied by a United States group that will include national security advisor Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

About the trip

They are expected to return on Saturday after a short visit to the country that doesn't seem amenable to annexation.

During their time there, the delegation will "visit historical sites, learn about Greenlandic heritage," and they will also participate in the Avannaata Qimussersu, which is Greenland's annual championship dogsled race.

“The race brings together approximately 37 mushers and 444 dogs in a remarkable display of speed, skill, and teamwork. Ms. Vance and the delegation are excited to witness this monumental race and celebrate Greenlandic culture and unity,” a statement from the White House read.

Even though the United States isn't likely to make any military moves on Greenland, it seems to be never far from the minds of many that the U.S. Armed Forces are substantial.

Insider details

Waltz is anticipated to take a tour of Pituffik Space Base, which is the United States military installation located on the island, according to two officials from the United States.

The charm push has been accompanied by veiled threats from Washington, with Trump reiterating on multiple occasions that the United States will acquire the largest island in the world "one way or the other."

This is all taking place despite the fact that Trump brought up the possibility of purchasing Greenland during his first term in office.

Trump has been making a more concerted attempt to purchase the territory during his second term.

The push

While Trump has been eyeing Canada as the possible "51st state" in the union, he is also looking to Greenland as a potential acquisition.

The real estate mogul considers the country to be a wealth of untapped potential energy resources, something that ticks more than one item off the Trump agenda.
