VP Vance confirms he's 'proud' to be allied with Trump amid ongoing feud with Musk
A rapidly escalating feud has erupted this week between President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk, ostensibly because of disagreements over the details of a massive budget and policy bill still being hammered out by Congress.
On Thursday, and then again on Friday, Vice President JD Vance left no doubt about which side he supported in that fight, as he reaffirmed that he is "proud to stand beside" Trump, Newsmax reported.
The public confirmation of Vance's loyalty to the president was perhaps deemed necessary to counter rumblings among Trump's opposition about the VP's friendship with Musk and his purported role in an alleged conspiracy by U.S. tech titans led by Musk to overthrow and replace Trump with Vance.
Vance reaffirms his loyalty to Trump
Thursday evening, likely in response to a slew of negative X posts from Musk about President Trump, including one that seemingly called for Trump to be impeached and replaced by VP Vance, the vice president finally weighed in on the ongoing dispute.
Vance posted on X, "President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I'm proud to stand beside him."
On Friday morning, Vance made a pair of follow-up posts on the matter and said, "There are many lies the corporate media tells about President Trump. One of the most glaring is that he's impulsive or short-tempered. Anyone who has seen him operate under pressure knows that's ridiculous."
"It's (maybe) the single biggest disconnect between fake media perception and reality," he added.
Prior to all of that, in a display of his typically wry humor, Vance posted a photo of himself with podcaster Theo Von ahead of a Thursday evening appearance on his show, and quipped, "Slow news day, what are we even going to talk about?"
A "tech titans" conspiracy theory that involves Vance replacing Trump
Rather predictably, some in the biased media were quick to attack Vice President Vance over his expression of loyalty to his boss, President Trump, as part of an ongoing and undeniable effort to drive wedges of conflict and distrust between the president and his closest allies and inner circle.
The Daily Beast, as just one example, titled its highly critical article as "Vance sucks up to Trump to deny he's part of Musk coup plot."
The outlet reported on the existence of a wild conspiracy theory in which a Musk-led "secretive cabal of tech titans" were plotting to overthrow the U.S. government and replace it with a corporate structure led by a CEO instead of a president.
Were that plot to succeed, the outlet added, then Trump would be pushed out of office and Vance would take his place as the hand-picked new leader of the Silicon Valley plotters.
Unlikely that Vance is preparing to overthrow and remove Trump
Of course, there is little or no evidence to support the corporate overthrow conspiracy theory espoused by The Daily Beast, much less that VP Vance is preparing to help oust and replace President Trump.
That said, Vance's posts on Thursday and Friday should quell any doubts or concerns anyone may have about where Vance's loyalties lie in this presumably temporary spat between Trump and Musk over the granular details of a massive piece of legislation that, while far from perfect, will help to implement several important aspects of Trump's policy agenda.
