An announcement was made by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement stating that a man wanted in relation to the contract killings of four people in Venezuela was apprehended in Grapevine just earlier this month.

The illegal immigrant was not only in Texas with his family at the time of his arrest, but allegedly wanted for some of the worst types of murder possible, as Breitbart News reported.

What we know

Anthony Fabian Marin La Torre, a Venezuelan national who is 42 years old, was wanted by authorities in his native country about his "direct involvement" in the murder of four individuals, as stated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement system (ICE).

After receiving a tip from Venezuelan authorities on February 18 that Marin La Torre was wanted for the contract killings, law enforcement in the United States acquired the information.

“FBI Dallas, along with our North Texas OCDETF Strike Force partners, is committed to our mutual objective of ensuring community safety,” said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock.

“We will continue to provide critical analytical, investigative and tactical resources to identify and locate dangerous criminals in order to bring them to justice.”

The arrests

Marin La Torre was taken into custody on May 2 in Grapevine by a group that included members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Dallas.

This comes several months after U.S. President Donald Trump issued an order to crack down on illegal immigrants, which is something that his predecessor not only did not do but also encouraged those who opposed the idea.

According to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he entered the United States illegally with his family on September 26, 2022, close to the port of entry in San Luis, Arizona.

ICE has taken him into custody pending removal hearings after he was charged with being an alien who is not permitted to be in the country.

What we don't know

There is a lot that still remains to be learned about immigration, just ike so many others that have either snuck into the country, or were released on their own recognizance..

The investigation into the murders and Marin La Torre's involvement in them is still ongoing, so ICE has not released any additional details at this time.

"This fugitive stands accused of some horrific crimes, further representing a threat in the communities of Texas that we will not tolerate," said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas acting Field Office Director Josh Johnson.

“ICE Dallas will never relent in our priority of enhancing public safety and arresting and removing criminal alien threats from our streets.”
