Video from 1992 shows Joe Biden complaining about violent crime in Washington, D.C.
Democrats have been quick to slam President Donald Trump's recent efforts at reducing crime in Washington, D.C. along with his complaint that it is far more dangerous than many other world cities.
However, those objections got harder to take seriously after a video emerged showing former President Joe Biden lamenting disorder in the nation's capital.
Biden avoiding taking the train in Washington due to crime fears
According to Fox News, the clip was recorded in 1992 and featured Biden speaking on Capitol Hill when he was a Delaware senator.
Biden at one point addressed then-Senate Presiding Officer Robert Byrd and referenced a train station in Wilmington which carried his name.

Specifically, Biden alleged that the danger posted by criminals meant it would not be safe for him to take an Amtrak train from Washington.
Instead, he either had to "get in my car outside this great citadel of justice and freedom and drive out to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway" or rent a hotel room on New Jersey Avenue.
Biden recalled how a congressman was stabbed
"Now I am not any more than my friend (Byrd) from West Virginia very big on perks here in the United States Senate," Biden insisted.
"I don't think either one of us have ever been accused of seeking the perks of office. And I felt it was kind of silly," the then-senator continued.
He then recalled how a member of Congress had recently "been stabbed in the gutter outside the Hyatt" while "two people had been shot in the park."
"Driving home, my staff, who lives here on the Hill, reminded me don't stop at a stoplight until I'm out of town," the then-lawmaker acknowledged.
Trump: "You don't want to get mugged and raped"
Biden explained that such precautions were necessary since "stopping at the light" increased the risk of him being targeted by carjackers.
Those comments resemble remarks that Trump made at the White House last week when justifying his decision to take over the Metropolitan Police Department and deploy National Guard troops.
"I understand a lot of you tend to be on the liberal side, but … you don’t want to get mugged and raped and shot and killed," Breitbart quoted him as telling reporters.
"You want to be able to leave your apartment or your house where you live and feel safe and go into a store to buy a newspaper or buy something, and you don’t have that now," Trump declared.
