VP says Ukraine ‘war business’ funding is over
Vice President JD Vance isn’t pulling any punches when dealing with the Eastern European conflict, going so far as to say that the nation will be on its own soon.
During recent comemnts for an interview with Fox News, Vance said that Europe needed to spend its money on Ukraine, and warned that America is “done with the funding of the war,” as The Hill reported.
According to Vance, Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky will need to meet with President Donald Trump sometime soon.
He also said he didn't believe it would be productive to allow Zelensky to attend the summit between Russian and United States leaders, as some have suggested.
From Vance
Vance told Fox News that Trump “has to be the one to bring these two together”, before criticizing Europe for not “stepping up.”
He outlined the administration’s take, saying, “What we said to the Europeans is simply: this is in your neck of the woods, this is in your back door. You guys have gotta step up and take a bigger role in this thing.
“And if you care so much about this conflict, you should be willing to play a more direct and substantial way in funding this war yourself."
"We are done"
As to his conjecture on how it the long-running conflict will shake out, he said, “I think the president, and I certainly think that America, we’re done with the funding of the Ukraine war business. We wanna bring about a peaceful settlement of this thing, we wanna stop the killing.”

European Commission president Kaja Kallas indicated that European foreign ministers are rushing to get into an emergency meeting ahead of the summit on Friday.
Those neighboring nations have rallied behind Ukraine, which Zelensky has thanked them for, saying, "The end of the war must be fair, and I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine and our people."
More From Inside The White House
An official from the White House spoke to The Associated Press anonymously, saying that Trump has continued to be open to a summit with both Russian and Ukrainian leaders.
For now, however, he will only take part in a bilateral meeting that was requested by Putin with Trump.
It’s unclear what the meeting will achieve, but there is hope that it could pivot the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for over three years.
