White House removes Trump's transcripts from website

In an interesting move last week, the White House removed an enormous amount of content from its official website in a move that raised questions across the media landscape.

According to NBC News and other sources, the White House has apparently taken down all of President Donald Trump's transcripts from its website -- all except the transcript from his inaugural address.

The transcripts from his public appearances have mostly all been removed and replaced with videos of his public appearances instead.

The White House confirmed in the days following the removal that it was an official act and that the transcripts were replaced with video clips.

What's going on?

All of President Trump's transcripts had been publicly available on the White House website up until last Sunday. The next day, it was noticed that they were wiped.

The removal comes as a policy change, as the White House described the move, adding that it will now only post video and audio clips instead of the transcribed documents.

The outlet noted:

The idea behind the move is that people will get a fuller and more accurate sense of Trump by watching and listening to him as opposed to reading a transcript, which they may not be inclined to do anyway, the official said. Purging the transcripts and switching to audio and video of Trump's remarks was intended to create "consistency" across the website, the official said.

White House officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the change to NBC News.

"In an effort to maintain consistency, previous transcripts that were available have been removed and replaced with the audio and visual components of that transcript," the sources reportedly said.

They added, “The White House continues to work to upload the multitude of public engagements that the president has done and will continue to make sure that the website consists of a full and complete representation of the president’s public comments."

"Most transparent"

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to the situation.

“The president’s remarks are live on the website for every person in the world, including journalists, to access and watch for themselves. The Trump White House is the most transparent in history," she said in a statement.

Vice President J.D. Vance will reportedly keep his transcripts on the site for now.

It'll be hilarious to watch the anti-Trumpers react to this one.
