Former Texas GOP Representative Will Hurd announced on October 9 that he is no longer going to be seeking the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2024.
Instead, he thinks another person in the GOP will be the right (wo)man for the job:
Donald Trump doesn't like Nikki Haley very much, but at least some Americans are starting to hop on her bandwagon, and it might not be long before Nikki Haley is a bigger threat to Donald Trump than any other person on the Republican side.
Hurd seems to think that Haley might be just what Republicans need right now. He's saying the goal for the GOP should be to "consolidate our party around one person to defeat both Donald Trump and President Biden."
Fourteen weeks ago, Hurd launched his campaign.
It was a whirlwind 14 weeks, but not a fruitful set of weeks.
Hurd failed to gain any traction and wasn't able to make the stage at either Republican debate.
Will Hurd explained exactly what America needs when he was explaining that he would be stepping back:
"Our nation deserves a leader who can unite us and navigate the complex challenges we face, particularly when it comes to our national security. I believe Ambassador Nikki Haley is the best person in this race to do that."
Seeing how concerned Will Hurd is about making sure that American citizens remain safe makes you realize that we live in a very privileged country.
There is war raging in multiple parts of the world right now, and America would like to make sure that we don't add a bunch of bodies to the death toll, especially civilian ones.
Whether it ends up being Nikki Haley, Donald Trump, or any other Republican, you would have to imagine that their responses to worldwide disasters would have to be at least a little bit stronger than Biden's, right?
Joe Biden is simply too old and too weak to keep America safe these days.
Will Hurd thinks Nikki Haley is the person we should count on to do just that.
Do you agree with him?
