Would-be Justice Kavanaugh assassin gets off easy, Trump admin steps in
A Biden-appointed judge just let the man who sought to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh off easy.
The New York Post, however, reports that the administration of President Donald Trump is looking to rectify the situation.
This all comes as the convicted - Nicholas Roske - was sentenced to a relatively short term of imprisonment.
The attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a disgusting attack against our entire judicial system by a profoundly disturbed individual. @TheJusticeDept will be appealing the woefully insufficient sentence imposed by the district court, which does not…

The Biden-appointee, Judge Deborah Boardman, sentenced Roske to eight years on Friday.
Fox News reports:
A federal judge sentenced Nicholas Roske, who now goes by Sophie, to eight years in prison on Friday for attempting to murder Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the weeks leading up to the Supreme Court’s landmark Dobbs decision.
Eight years is a far cry from what the Department of Justice (DOJ) was seeking. The DOJ, in fact, asked for a sentence of at least 30 years. The DOJ argued that this was necessary to "send the very strong, very clear message that the ends never justify violent means."
Boardman, however, saw things differently.
Fox reports:
Judge Deborah Boardman said during the sentencing hearing that while Roske's actions were "reprehensible," the judge also considered a string of mitigating factors, including that Roske "spontaneously confessed to and cooperated with police." "I believe Ms. Roske understands that what she did was terribly wrong. I find her remorse sincere," Boardman said.
AG Bondi says "not so fast"
Judge Boardman's decision has garnered widespread criticism, prompting a response from U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Bondi took to social media on Friday to assure Americans that the Trump administration is not going to let Roske off of the hook that easily.
She wrote:
The attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a disgusting attack against our entire judicial system by a profoundly disturbed individual. @TheJusticeDept will be appealing the woefully insufficient sentence imposed by the district court, which does not reflect the horrific facts of this case.
At the time of this writing, the appeal has yet to be filed, so we do not know what the Trump administration specifically is going to argue.
In general, however, it seems clear that the DOJ will argue that Roske's punishment does not fit the crime.
