One of the biggest and quietest mysteries from Jan. 6, 2021, in the opinion of many, are the origins of the pipe bombs planted across Washington D.C. on the eve of the Capitol riots.

According to Fox News, the FBI, under new leadership thanks to President Donald Trump, is stepping up its investigation into the pipe bomb situation, as promised by FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino.

The announcement came as Bongino and Director Kash Patel doubled down in their promise to get to the bottom of several unsolved cases and situations that unfolded under former President Joe Biden and his administration.

Earlier this year, the FBI released bombshell surveillance footage that showed someone planting the bombs "outside the headquarters of both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C."

What's going on?

Bongino is dead set on tackling cases that originated under Biden, with a high priority on the J6 pipe bomb case, as Bongino explained.

"We were told by partisan actors out there, this was the insurrection, the world was [going to] fall apart, and no one seemed to show any interest in this case," he said at the time.

There's definitely someone or some people responsible, as there seems to be a strong amount of video footage and other materials being used by the FBI to get to the bottom of the situation.

Besides the video footage, in January the FBI also released more details about the suspect's physical characteristics. They believe the individual to be about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and to have worn a gray hoodie, face mask, black gloves and Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes.

Still, Bongino said the public's involvement will be huge in cracking the pipe bomb case as well as other major cases.

Bongino, before becoming deputy FBI director, was a harsh critic of the Biden administration and the previous FBI brass, who seemed to conveniently not be interested in several major cases.
