NY AG Letitia James under grand jury investigation: Report

All of the Democrats who thought it would be a good strategy to go after President Donald Trump between his presidencies are quickly finding out that, in fact, it was not a good idea, and New York AG Letitia James is one of them.

According to Fox News, AG James found out this week that she's now the subject of a grand jury investigation at the hands of the Department of Justice -- a move set in motion by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The investigation is focused on "possible deprivation of rights allegations" as James went after Mr. Trump for years in the state of New York.

Many believe James, who admitted before she was elected that she would go after Trump, was nothing more than another tool used by Democratic powers in their attempt to hamstring Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election.

What's going on?

Sources confirmed to Fox News that the investigation is underway, and while not much is known regarding the finer details of the investigation, it was confirmed to the outlet by multiple sources that James' office has received subpoenas from the DOJ.

Notably, the subpoenas request information related to the civil fraud lawsuit she pursued against President Trump.

Fox News noted:

James, a Democrat who was elected attorney general in 2018, has long been a target of Trump. James successfully brought civil charges against him for business fraud in 2022 and has had an instrumental role in challenging his current administration's executive actions in court.

Hilariously, a spokesperson for the New York AG called the grand jury investigation a "weaponization" of the system.

"Any weaponization of the justice system should disturb every American," the spokesperson said. "We stand strongly behind our successful litigation against the Trump Organization and the National Rifle Association, and we will continue to stand up for New Yorkers’ rights."

Social media responds

Users across social media responded to the news of the investigation into James.

"She need's to be locked up! She was never qualified for the job!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I can't wait to see that vindictive criminal in jail."

It'll be interesting to see if the grand jury can bring any charges against her. Only time will tell.
