Republican lawmakers want Liz Cheney investigated and charged for 'witness tampering' on J6 Committee
Former Wyoming Republican lawmaker Liz Cheney, who played an instrumental role on the "bipartisan" House J6 Committee, could soon find herself in a heap of legal trouble.
According to Fox News, there are growing calls from the right side of the aisle for the FBI to investigate Cheney for "potential criminal witness tampering" regarding the part she played in the J6 investigations.
House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chair Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) made the announcement and call for an investigation in a report released this week.
Cheney has been widely criticized for her role in the J6 Committee's investigation. President-elect Donald Trump has called for charges to be brought against her for years now.
What's going on?
Loudermilk held nothing back in his announcement, suggesting that "numerous" federal laws were potentially broken by the former Republican lawmaker.
"Based on the evidence obtained by this Subcommittee, numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation," he said in the report.
He added, "Evidence uncovered by the Subcommittee revealed that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney tampered with at least one witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, by secretly communicating with Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge."

Fox News noted:
The Jan. 6 committee was founded in July 2021 to investigate the breach of the U.S. Capitol earlier that year by supporters of Trump ahead of President Biden officially taking office on Jan. 20. The Jan. 6 committee’s investigation was carried out when Democrats held control of the House.
President-elect Trump released a statement shortly after Loudermilk's report was made public, echoing calls for an FBI investigation.
Social media reacts
Many social media users, and specifically Trump's supporters, were all in favor of the FBI getting involved in the matter and potentially charging Cheney.
"Time to throw Liz Cheney in prison!" one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Whether you agree with Trump or not, this report is a massive deal. If the allegations hold true—witness tampering, suppressing evidence, and breaking federal laws—then the entire narrative pushed by the J6 Committee could unravel."
Others predicted that Cheney will receive a preemptive pardon from President Joe Biden before he leaves office. Only time will tell.
