Senate Dems protest Trump's pick to lead the OMB

President Donald Trump scored another major win this week, as far as Senate confirmations are concerned.

According to Breitbart, Russell Vought was confirmed by the Senate to head up the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) despite massive pushback from Senate Democrats.

The floor vote for Vought's confirmation was described as "chaotic" as several Democratic senators objected to confirming Vought. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) even reportedly "shouted" in protest over his confirmation.

Vought's confirmation hearing proved that Trump Derangement Syndrome is still alive and well in the halls of Congress, as Democrats continue to reel from Kamala Harris' embarrassing loss back in November.

What happened?

Vought is no stranger to heading up the OMB, as he previously held the position under President Trump's first term in the White House.

His experience and success in the position were enough for Senate Republicans to back him, but that wasn't the case with several Senate Democrats who threw hissy fits over his potential confirmation.

Fox News noted:

Republicans backed Vought’s nomination, arguing he proved a qualified candidate for the role since he previously held the position during President Donald Trump’s first term. Democrats, however, raised multiple concerns about his nomination and said his views on the Impoundment Control Act, which reinforces that Congress holds the power of the purse, disqualified him from the role.

Senate Democrats reportedly held a 30-hour-long protest against Vought's confirmation.

Many thought it was odd that Democrats chose to protest Vought out of all of the otherwise much more controversial Trump picks.

Social media reacts

Users across social media reacted to the Democrats protesting Vought's confirmation hearing, especially Warren's outburst.

"Typical behavior from Elizabeth Warren, always resorting to theatrics instead of constructive debate. Her outburst won't change the fact that Russ Vought is a great choice for budget chief, he'll help Trump drain the swamp and cut wasteful spending," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Warren is a disgrace and an embarrassment to the country. Just a shrieking harpy who NEVER listens to anyone."

It'll be interesting to see if Senate Dems react similarly when FBI director hopeful Kash Patel's hearing comes up next week.
