Four in ten say Congress should initiate impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden, according to a recent poll.

According to a Rasmussen Reports survey released on Thursday, 40% of likely voters think Congress should commence impeachment proceedings against Biden, according to Breitbart News.

The survey found that 42% of likely voters believe Congress should initiate impeachment proceedings against Biden, while 45% disagree.

While the majority of Republicans (70%) and Democrats (71%), respectively, believe Congress should, independents remain relatively divided.

More Results

In contrast to the 39 percent of independents who believe Congress should initiate impeachment proceedings against the 80-year-old president, 40 percent of independents do not believe legislators should do so.

In addition, 53 percent of all respondents believe it is at least somewhat probable that, since assuming office, Biden has committed "high crimes and misdemeanors that would justify Congress impeaching him."

Thirty-eight percent of respondents said it is "very" probable. Notably, more than one-third of Democrats and 48 percent of independents believe it is at least somewhat probable.

However, when asked about the likelihood that Congress will initiate impeachment proceedings against Biden, respondents expressed skepticism. The majority, 66%, believe it is at least not very probable, with 29% believing it is "not at all likely."

A Republican's Take

It coincides with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announcing articles of impeachment against Biden.

“It is with the highest amount of solemnity that I announce my intention to introduce articles of impeachment today on the head of this America-at-last Executive Branch that has been working since January 20th, 2021, to systematically destroy this country: the President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden,” Greene said on Thursday in reference to Biden’s lack of border security as a primary issue.

The legislator from Georgia said that Biden "deliberately compromised our national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure our border."

Green harkened to the fact that more than five million illegal aliens had been found during the time that Biden has served as president.

Greene's declaration was deemed a "shameless sideshow political stunt" by White House spokesman Ian Sams. The spokesperson essentially branded Greene as a MAGA extreme. This was a common pejorative categorization employed by the Biden administration.

Biden's failure to secure the southern border, has been criticized by many Republicans as being a major failing on the part of the administration, calling the millions of illegal immigrants part of an external invasion.
