Bragg will testify before Congress, but probably not before Trump sentencing

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has reportedly been trying to get Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to testify before Congress for almost 15 months, since before he indicted former President Donald Trump on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Bragg has finally agreed to appear, but it doesn't look like that will happen before the trial of Trump ends with sentencing on July 11.

Prosecutors said Friday that the office was “committed to voluntary cooperation,” but that the requested June 13 date was probably a no-go because of "schedule conflicts."

“Everything is on the table as to what is next," Jordan’s spokesperson Stephanie Farrell said in a statement to The Hill.

It's Understandable

While it's fairly understandable that Bragg wouldn't be able to comply on the date requested, Jordan still might be able to hold Bragg in contempt for not complying with the subpoena.

The latest subpoena from Jordan also included Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor in the case under Bragg, so he could also be held in contempt.

It would be ironic if Bragg was held in contempt and sent to jail, since not one but two former Trump aides are now in jail for the very same thing.

In most cases, those who violated congressional subpoenas have not been prosecuted, but Democrats obviously saw doing so as a way to get Trump indirectly and to make aides think twice about even working for him, lest they suffer the same fate.

What Democrats want

The Biden Justice Department would like nothing more than to put Trump and everyone who works under him in jail just for having the audacity to work for him, considering that they think he's a "threat to democracy."

It's why they have taken steps never before taken in the history of the United States, such as charging a former president with crimes and putting his aides in jail for not complying with subpoenas.

In reality, it is President Joe Biden and the Democrats who are a threat to democracy for targeting their political opponents and trying to influence voters against them.

Any attempts like those by Jordan to hold Democrats accountable are mere scraps compared to what the Democrats are doing, but are treated by the media like they are the worst criminals on earth.

If Republicans don't find a way to stop this, Democrats will do it even more until it completely overwhelms the legal system and any hope of justice is squashed.

First Republicans must defeat Democrat judges and prosecutors in the courtroom, and then they must beat them at the ballot box.
