White House leaks reveal Biden's advisers want him out as the GOP explores a possible cover up of the president's cognitive decline

President Joe Biden's inner circle is beginning to turn against him in hopes of getting the 81-year-old to step down from his reelection bid, Fox News reported. These could be the same people Republicans now claim could have hidden evidence of Biden's cognitive decline.

In a leak to the media, White House staffers said they hoped Biden would publicly humiliate himself at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., this week. "This is a terrible thing to say," the anonymous official said Wednesday.

"But that might be the only thing that could force him out at this point, while there’s still time to rewrite the ending," the source added. Biden did not disappoint Thursday, first by confusing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, then referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as Vice President Trump at a later news conference, the New York Post reported.

The Fracturing Facade

As the Associated Press pointed out, these kinds of leaks and negativity were previously uncharacteristic of this White House. Biden cultivated secrecy and loyalty among staffers as he intentionally sought to contrast his administration with that of his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

Those around Trump would dribble out bits of policy proposals and leak what was said in closed-door meetings, making the administration seem haphazard. Unfortunately, Biden's aides are now the ones complaining anonymously to the media, indicating that the Biden administration's facade is fracturing.

This newfound openness came after Biden's abysmal debate performance against Trump last month that revealed a frail, confused, age-addled Biden. After this, his so-called allies tripped over themselves to throw him under the bus.

The most shocking betrayal came from White House communications director Kate Bedingfield. "It was a really disappointing debate performance from Joe Biden," she said during a CNN panel discussion following the debate.

"I don’t think there’s any other way to slice it. His biggest issue was to prove to the American people that he had the energy, the stamina — and he didn’t do that," Bedingfield said.

The Coverup

Biden certainly didn't deteriorate overnight, and the Republican-led House Oversight Committee is demanding answers. According to NBC News, committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed three key White House advisers to find out what they knew and when.

Comer called on White House senior adviser Ashley Williams, Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasin, and first lady Jill Biden's senior adviser, Anthony Bernal, to testify. In the letter accompanying the legal demand, Comer claims they had "firsthand knowledge of the extent to which President Biden is personally carrying out the duties of his office and whether he is capable of doing so."

The committee demanded to know "whether the time has come for Congress to revisit potential legislation to address the oversight of presidents’ fitness to serve pursuant to its authority under Section 4 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment." Furthermore, the chairman needs to know whether this is something they covered up.

Comer charged that the top aides "may be running interference on behalf of the President and perhaps doing some of the President’s job for him" as many suspect by now. "President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people," Comer added.

This situation will only worsen for Biden and the Democrats the longer he hangs on in the race. If Comer is correct that they knew what was happening all along, this could be the biggest White House scandal yet.
