In an interview with Vogue magazine that was published last month, Jill Biden spoke openly about how much she enjoys serving as first lady.

However, the Daily Mail reported this week that Mrs. Biden will "step back" from the spotlight in order to make way for Vice President Kamala Harris' husband.

Doug Emhoff to fill in for Jill Biden at fundraising events

The newspaper noted that Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will take Mrs. Biden's place at a number of previously scheduled fundraisers, including one featuring former late-night television star David Letterman.

The Daily Mail further pointed out how Mrs. Biden has thus far "been a prolific fundraiser" who managed to collect millions of dollars on behalf of her husband, President Joe Biden.

Yet the publication also stated that it remains unclear to what extent if any the first lady will apply her talents on behalf of Harris.

That uncertainty stems from the fact that while Harris and Mrs. Biden "are not close," she and Emhoff are said to have a positive relationship.

Book claims first lady was opposed to picking Harris for VP spot

In their 2022 book titled, "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future," New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns alleged that Mrs. Biden was opposed to Harris becoming her husband's running mate.

"'There are millions of people in the United States,' she began. 'Why,' she asked, 'do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe,'" Fox News quoted an excerpt from the book as stating.

The authors recalled how "Harris had attacked Biden more harshly than any other major candidate in the Democratic primaries," something the Biden family regarded "as a smear and a betrayal."

What's more, another book called "Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Trump" alleged that Mrs. Biden reacted with profanity after Harris went after her husband's record on busing during a 2019 primary debate.

Mrs. Biden reportedly cursed at Harris following primary debate

"With what he cares about, what he fights for, what he’s committed to, you get up there and call him a racist without basis? Go f--k yourself," she was quoted as saying of Harris during a phone call with supporters following the debate.

Meanwhile, Fox News reported on Thursday that Mrs. Biden has made clear she will neither "forgive" nor "forget" those she perceives as being responsible for forcing her husband to drop his reelection campaign.
