Trump's campaign suffers another plane malfunction

The 2024 presidential campaign of former President Donald Trump has suffered yet another plane malfunction.

This time, according to the Daily Caller, it was the plane of Trump's running mate - U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance - that suffered the malfunction.

This is now the second plane malfunction that the Trump campaign has experienced in the past week.

This fact has many wondering whether it is merely a coincidence or whether something more sinister might be going on.

Here is what we know so far:

The latest incident, which involved Vance and the plane that he was flying on, took place on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024.

The New York Times reported:

A chartered campaign plane carrying Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, was forced to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee on Friday shortly after takeoff because of a door malfunction on the aircraft, a campaign spokeswoman said.

The incident, though, appears not to have been that big of a deal. In fact, Trump's team says that, shortly after returning to the airport - where the problem was fixed - the flight continued.

Per the Times:

The spokeswoman, Taylor Van Kirk, said that the aircraft, a Boeing 737-86J that the campaign refers to as Trump Force Two, returned to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, where the problem was quickly resolved before the flight continued to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

That is the good news. Here's the bad news:

Two malfunctions in a single week

This is now the second plane malfunction experienced by the Trump campaign in a week. CBS News covered the first incident, which took place on Aug. 9, 2024.

The outlet reported:

Former President Donald Trump's plane was forced Friday to divert its landing to Billings, Montana, due to a mechanical issue, airport officials confirmed to CBS News. Trump was holding a rally in Bozeman, Montana, Friday night, but his private plane landed instead in Billings Friday afternoon, Billings-Logan International Airport said in a statement. Bozeman is about 150 miles west of Billings.

Unlike the situation with Vance and "Trump Force Two," the former president did have to switch to another plane in order to get where he wanted to go.

CBS wrote:

The airport said Trump's plane "landed without incident," and Trump then departed for Bozeman on another private jet. The details of the mechanical issue were not confirmed.

Trump, himself, at the time of this writing, has not addressed these incidents with his campaign's planes.
