"Kill Bill" and "Reservoir Dogs" actor Michael Madsen was arrested in Malibu early Sunday morning on a domestic battery charge before he was released on $20,000 bail shortly thereafter. 

Police responded to Madsen's residence after being called for a "family disturbance" at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday.

The caller said that Madsen, 66, pushed his wife and locked her out of their home.

A police statement said that after an investigation, “deputies determined Michael Madsen was involved in a domestic incident involving his wife” and arrested him soon afterward. He was booked at 1:40 a.m.

Charges to be filed

“The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for filing,” the Malibu/Lost Hills Station statement added.

If convicted, Madsen could face community service or a protection from abuse order.

Madsen acted in more than 200 movies, including several of director Quentin Tarantino's.

Besides "Kill Bill" volumes 1 and 2 and "Reservoir Dogs," Madsen played roles in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and the Tarantino documentary "QT8: The First Eight," which chronicled the director's first eight movies.

Madsen was typecast as the tough-guy villain and found it difficult to break out of that type.

A difficult few years

Madsen has been married to wife DeAnna since 1996 and the couple have three sons.

One of their sons, Hudson, died by suicide in 2022.

Madsen has been arrested before. In 2019, he was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing his car into a pole.

He pleaded no contest at the time and was sentenced to four days in jail and five years probation.

That incident was not quite five years ago, so he could face penalties for violating his probation in this case if he is found guilty of wrongdoing.
