Kamala Harris' supporters were caught spreading a fraudulent endorsement from the Philadelphia Eagles. 

The ads portray Harris in an Eagles uniform with the caption, "Official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles."

The Eagles are an institution in the heavily Democratic city, famous for its raucous sporting events. But the NFL team confirmed that they have not endorsed Harris for president.

"We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed," the Eagles said.

The ads also include a link to a non-partisan voter registration site affiliated with the Eagles.

The city is treating the incident as an act of vandalism, since the ads were placed over paid advertisements. Philly has started removing the ads from public bus stations.

There's no sign that Harris had anything to do with the fake ads. Of course, this being Philly, it's doubtful the perpetrator will be held to account.

Whoever is responsible had to break open locked boxes housing the ads, ad company Intersection said.

“We are aware that several of our bus shelters located in Philadelphia have been vandalized and that the paid advertising copy in each of those shelters has been replaced with unauthorized copy," said Scott Goldsmith, the President and CEO of Intersection Media.

"While our bus shelters have locks that typically prevent unauthorized installation by non-Intersection staff, occasionally, people find a way to unlock the ad box and insert unauthorized content."

"We consider this act not only vandalism but also theft, as the perpetrators stole both the existing advertising copy and the paid advertising space. "

The criminal responsible has not been identified, but some have speculated it is the local street artist Winston Tseng. He is known for his pro-Democratic art, often appropriating known brands. One of his ads shows Biden eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream with the caption "Rocky Road to Democracy." Another uses Pepto Bismol's brand to liken Donald Trump to indigestion.

Philadelphia is the largest Democratic stronghold in Pennsylvania, widely considered the must-win state in the 2024 presidential race.

It's pretty embarrassing for Harris that the Eagles had to come out and deny supporting her on her own turf. Clearly the "artist" behind this stunt didn't think this one through.
