The story behind Trump assassination attempt suspect Ryan Routh keeps getting stranger by the hour, it seems.

According to Fox News, one of Routh's former North Carolina neighbors revealed this week that the suspected assassin described Routh and his family as "weird."

Routh reportedly had a lengthy arrest record while living in North Carolina, and was charged with a long list of bizarre crimes, including "multiple counts of possession of a weapon of mass destruction in 2002."

He was also arrested in Guilford County for writing bad checks, auto theft, and felony firearm possession.

What did the neighbor say?

Perhaps one of the strangest revelations regarding Routh's home life was when his former neighbor, Kim Mungo, revealed that he kept a full size horse inside his home.

"He had a horse in the house. I mean, a whole live horse in the house. But I could see the guns and stuff and all. They were … oh, I mean, kind of weird. But they didn't bother me. I didn't bother them," Mungo told reporters this week.

She added, "I told all my friends because they didn't believe me."

Aside from being weird, Mungo said Routh and his family were always decent to her, saying "It's just crazy to me. He was a good guy. He was sweet."

Fox News noted:

Other neighbors who spoke with Fox News Digital did not know Routh and were surprised that their neighbor was allegedly involved in a suspected assassination attempt.

New revelations

According to the Associated Press, Routh reportedly self-published a book in 2023 in which he urged Iran to assassinate the former president.

The AP noted:

“You are free to assassinate Trump,” Routh wrote of Iran in an apparently self-published book in 2023, “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War,” which described the former president as a “fool” and “buffoon” for both the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and the “tremendous blunder” of leaving the Iran nuclear deal.

Though it appeared Routh supported Trump early on, his views on the former president soured over time and his posts regarding Trump became more bizarre and violent.

Only time will tell what else is revealed about this obviously deranged individual.
