Republicans plan tax cuts, border wall funding for first 100 days of Trump administration
Senators and members of the House of Representatives are laying the groundwork for what they hope will be a united Republican control of the White House and Congress following the election, and what they increasingly anticipate will be the case.
The leaders of the Republican Party in both chambers are currently formulating a plan for the first one hundred days that Donald Trump will be in office, as Breitbart News reported.
They anticipate that they will move fast on a major budget reconciliation package that will fulfill his promise of reducing taxes by trillions of dollars.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, the staff of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate GOP Whip John Thune (R-S. D), Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) recently got together to plan out their agenda for the year 2025 in the event that Election Day represents a significant victory for their respective parties.
More From the House
In addition, Johnson, who has stated that he plans to run for reelection as Speaker of the House regardless of whether or not Republicans maintain control of the House, has maintained consistent communication with Trump in the run-up to the election.
Scalise, another Trump friend, has stated that he has discussed his top goals for the year 2025 with the Republican presidential nominee.
Policymakers in the Republican Party are considering funding a significant new border security program. This initiative would include the building of Trump's hallmark border wall, as well as the possibility of defunding portions of the government that Trump loyalists claim have been "weaponized" under the administration of President Joe Biden.
In spite of this, the most important objective for Republican leaders in both chambers will be to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which is Trump's most notable legislative accomplishment, until the year 2025, when it is scheduled to expire.

Assuming Trump defeats Harris and Republicans regain Senate control and House majority, Republican lawmakers will debate the extent of their actions.
“The plotting, the strategizing and trying to get prepared for [budget] reconciliation has been going for several months,” a Senate GOP aide said. “Over the August recess and over this October recess, those efforts have been ramping up a lot.
“McConnell’s folks and Thune’s folks have been leading the effort on our side,” the aide added.
“A lot of the House committees have been putting work in on this; some are further along than others,” the source added. “Efforts are underway. Hitting the ground running is something everyone wants to be able to do.”
From the Senate
The Hill reported that Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who is expected to assume the role of Senate Republican whip in the upcoming Congress, has been consulting with Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon, the leaders of Trump's transition team, to assist in the development of a strategy for the first 100 days of Trump's presidency.
“The transition team is more prepared. They are better staffed [than Trump’s team was after the 2016 election], and they are laser focused on getting out of the gates quickly,” he added.
McConnell, Thune, and Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), who is expected to assume the role of chair of the Senate Finance Committee in a Republican majority, are reportedly leading the initial discussions on the first significant measure that Republicans intend to introduce in 2025, according to Republican sources.
