NYC Mayor Eric Adams comes to Trump's defense
In a surprise to everyone, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) recently came to the defense of former President Donald Trump.
He did so, according to the New York Post, on Saturday.
This is a particularly bad look for Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democrats as, in defending Trump, Adams actually called for the end of campaign tactics that are currently being used by Harris.
Trump, as we will see, has even thanked Adams for the remarks.
"Dial down the temperature"
On Saturday, Adams was asked to weigh in on the recent incident in which the Harris campaign attempted to claim that there are similarities between Trump and Adolph Hitler. To put the matter simply, Adams was not having it.
"I have had those comments hurled at me by some political leaders in the city; my answer is 'No,'" Adams said in response to whether Trump is like Hitler.
The mayor continued, "I know what Hitler has done, and I know what a fascist regime looks like. I think, as I have called for over and over again, that the level of conversation, I think we can all dial down the temperature."
Chances are that, if you are not part of Harris's campaign, you'd probably agree with Adams on this one.
Trump responds
The former president has since responded by thanking Adams for the support.
"You know who I want to thank? Mayor Adams, because Mayor Adams has been treated pretty badly," Trump said.
The former president made this remark, according to the Washington Examiner, during his massive campaign rally in Madison Square Garden over the weekend. Trump and his campaign are attempting to make inroads into the deep blue state of New York.
Background
You may be wondering why it is that Adams was not willing to simply go along with Harris and other Democrats who are trying to draw parallels between Trump and Hitler. We do not know the answer for certain - because Adams has not told us - but one could guess what is going on.
As the Examiner reports, "Trump has suggested Adams was targeted by President Joe Biden’s Justice Department for speaking up about the border crisis that has meant a flood of immigrants into New York City."
Adams, in fact, has been indicted by the DOJ. One, thus, could only guess that Adams came to Trump's defense because he, like Trump, now knows what it is like to be targeted by the Biden-Harris regime.
