Another Democrat leaves her party
Yet another Democrat is leaving her party for the Republican Party.
The big question, though, is whether she will also leave her Democratic policies behind.
The former Democrat is Hillary Cassel. According to the Daily Caller, Cassel is a Florida State representative.

"Today, I am announcing..."
Cassel announced her exit from the Democratic Party in a message that she posted to her X account on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024. The message can be read in its entirety here.
The state representative begins:
Today, I am announcing my decision to change my party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. This decision was not made lightly but comes from a deep sense of responsibility to my constituents and my commitment to the values that guide my service. I will be joining the Republican Conference of the Florida House of Representatives because I believe in their vision for a better, more prosperous Florida.
It would appear that one of the main factors behind Cassel's decision is the Democratic Party's approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Cassel writes:
As a proud Jewish woman. I have been increasingly troubled by the Democratic Party’s failure to unequivocally support Israel and its willingness to tolerate extreme progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism. I’m constantly troubled by the inability of the current Democratic Party to relate to everyday Floridians.
Accordingly, she wrote, "I can no longer remain in a party that doesn’t represent my values."
She's not alone
This seems to being a growing trend, following the Republicans large victory in the 2024 elections, which was spearheaded by President-Elect Donald trump.
CBS News reports:
[Cassel's] announcement came after Tampa Rep. Susan Valdes switched from Democrat to Republican on Dec. 9. Valdes made the move after she lost a bid to become chairwoman of the Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee.
There have been similar defections across the country.
Just take, for example, some of the high-profile individuals who have joined Trump including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. Both of these individuals played a big role in helping Republicans achieve victory in the 2024 elections, and now they are about to play a big role in Trump's administration.
With this in mind, it certainly does appear as though a major political shift is occurring, at the moment, in the country. And, much of the credit for this shift has to go to Trump.
