Special Counsel Jack Smith's Trump Investigation Report Released By Judge Cannon

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon cleared the way for Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on his investigation into President-elect Donald Trump to be released on Monday.

Trump had originally sued to stop the release of Smith's report but Judge Cannon didn't support Trump's efforts and cleared the way for Smith's report to be released which was eventually published at midnight on Tuesday.

Smith's final report detailed his findings and beliefs about Trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

In his report, Smith argued that Trump would have been convicted had he not won a 2nd term as President back in November.

Humiliating End For Smith

This has been snapped up by leftists as proof that Trump is guilty, in spite of the fact that this report is Smith's beliefs based on his own assessment, not the facts of the case.

Smith's report is the last shot at Trump after years of legal battles that began with a dramatic raid by the FBI on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

That raid is cited by many as the moment that Trump's political career was reborn following the disastrous outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The optics of the FBI raiding the home of a former President singlehandedly brought Trump's political career back from the dead.

Smith's indictment against Trump predictably collapsed but not before waking up Americans to the idea of "lawfare" and what the Democrats were doing to stop their political opponent using law enforcement.

Just the beginning

There are two parts of Smith's report with just Volume One, covering Smith's election interference case against Trump, released early Tuesday morning.

Volume Two, covering Smith's classified documents probe, has yet to be released with Judge Cannon set to rule on Friday whether to make the volume available to congressional leadership for review.

Trump's attorneys filed a brief with Judge Cannon arguing, "Never before in our Nation's history has the Department of Justice attempted to interfere with an incoming Presidential administration in this manner, let alone on the very eve of inauguration by means of a false report issued by a discredited prosecutor who has now resigned in disgrace."

Smith recently resigned from the DOJ in an effort to get out of dodge ahead of Trump ascending to the White House. Smith is at the top of Trump's list and Trump's DOJ will likely make it a priority to punish those who engaged in "lawfare" against him.

Mud Slinging

Smith's report has no new information and will have no legal impact so the report effectively amounts to a manifesto from Smith against Trump designed to function as a public attack to delegitimize Trump.

Trump is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States next week and Smith's report can't stop that. But what it does do is give leftists more mud to sling at Trump over allegations that have failed in the courtroom.

Now Americans will be subjected to months of leftists treating Smith's report as a legally impactful analysis instead of a political manifesto raging against Trump's success.
