A new book has made some surprising claims about U.S. Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) involvement in President Joe Biden's removal from the 2024 presidential race. 

This is according to a new book that is about to be released. The New York Times just published an excerpt of it, which can be found here.

The book is titled, Mad House: How Donald Trump, MAGA Mean Girls, a Former Used Car Salesman, a Florida Nepo Baby, and a Man With Rats in His Walls Broke Congress.

It is written by Annie Karni and Luke Broadwater, two reporters with the Times. 

The latest on Biden's removal

According to the excerpt published by the Times, Schumer met with Biden during the summer of 2024 to encourage him to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.

Schumer reportedly told Biden:

If you run and you lose to Trump, and we lose the Senate, and we don’t get back the House, that 50 years of amazing, beautiful work goes out the window. But worse — you go down in American history as one of the darkest figures. If I were you, I wouldn’t run, and I’m urging you not to run.

According to the excerpt, Biden, although surprised at what Schumer had to say, did not argue with the senator about it. Schumer, for his part, claims he "wept" after the meetup.

Schumer further revealed that only about five members of the U.S. Senate, at the time, wanted Biden to stay in the race.

He is said to have told Biden that he only had about a '5% chance' of beating Trump, adding, "None of your pollsters disagree with me."

Many have suspected that former President Barack Obama was instrumental in Biden's removal from the 2024 presidential race. This new book provides further evidence for this view.

According to the New York Post: 

The book recounts how former President Barack Obama orchestrated the Schumer meeting after Biden refused to budge despite public denunciations from several Democrats and a private meeting with party stalwarts on Capitol Hill.

Of course, we also now know that U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was also instrumental in Biden's removal from the 2024 race.

In other words, if you want to know who has been running the Democratic Party, Obama and Pelosi would be two very good guesses.

In all of this, Biden has emerged as somewhat of a tragic figure, having been abandoned by his own party - but only after the party extracted everything it could from him. Although Biden has maintained a brave face throughout all of this, First Lady Jill Biden recently made it clear that she is not happy about how all of this played out.
