Melania Trump made headlines this week by posing for a black-and-white portrait, something no first lady has done since 1913.

Not everyone was pleased by the image, however, with Fox News reporting that Vogue magazine responded by going on the attack.

Mrs. Trump compared to "a freelance magician"

"Trump’s clothing certainly didn’t help the boardroom pastiche," Fox News quoted an article published on Monday by as reading.

"The first lady wore a black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket with satin trimmed lapels over a white button-up, which she paired with a Ralph Lauren cummerbund and trousers," it stated.

"The choice to wear a tuxedo—as opposed to a blazer or blouse—made Trump look more like a freelance magician than a public servant," Vogue declared.

Vogue praised Jill Biden for her "patriotic wardrobe"

"It’s perhaps unsurprising that a woman who lived in a gold-encrusted penthouse, whose fame is so intertwined with a reality television empire, would refuse to abandon theatrics—even when faced with 248 years of tradition," the article asserted.

Fox News noted how Vogue's criticism of this year's portrait was not unique, as the publication also slammed a previous one that Mrs. Trump posed for in 2017.

The publication complained that the first lady's face had been "face airbrushed into oblivion" for the earlier photograph.

Vogue also made an attempt at contrasting Mrs. Trump's fashion choices with those of her predecessor, praising former First Lady Jill Biden's "patriotic wardrobe" with its "shades of red, white, and blue."

Conservative cable host says that "mean girls" at Vogue envy the first lady

The Independent pointed out how Vogue's article was met with pushback from conservatives online, including from Newsmax host Todd Starnes, who suggested that it stemmed from political bias and unresolved personal issues.

"It's unclear why Vogue directed their poisonous venom at Mrs. Trump," Starnes was quoted as writing in a social media post. "Envy, perhaps? Or it could just be that they hate bold, confident Republican women."

"Melania Trump is a portrait of beauty, style, elegance and power. She's a wife and a mother. She's a person who embraces her God-given pronoun," he continued.

"She's incredibly intelligent. She can speak fluently in five languages. And she has a terrific sense of humor," Starnes stressed before adding, "The Mean Girls who run the fashion magazines have an entirely different standard for style and beauty."
