While President Donald Trump and his administration continue to make great strides in bringing the Ukraine-Russia war to an end, Elon Musk chimed in recently with an idea that has many talking.

According to reports, Musk suggested that a quick and efficient way to bring the Ukraine war to an end would be to sanction some of the country's wealthiest residents.

Musk went as far as claiming that putting sanctions on 10 of the country's wealthiest people would be the "key to the puzzle" in ending the ongoing war.

Not surprisingly, Musk's idea still drew backlash from both critics of Trump and himself, as many on the left are working overtime to push a narrative that the Trump administration is taking it easy on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

What did he say?

Musk made his point clear and simple in a recent X post, drawing tons of agreeance and equal amounts of criticism for his suggestion.

Place sanctions on the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle," the DOGE leader wrote.

The Mirror added:

It comes as the relationship between Washington and Kyiv remains soured, and as officials in the US debate whether they can continue to supply Ukraine with military aid as the bloody war rolls on. Musk's post sparked uproar, with many accusing him and the Trump administration of failing to challenge Vladimir Putin's military aggression.

In a separate post, Musk made his feelings clear on what the inevitable outcome would be if the war continues.

"What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop. PEACE NOW!" Musk wrote.

Social media reaction

Many responded to Musk's post about sanctioning oligarchs, and a many people agreed that it's a route worth exploring, though there were definitely those who didn't.

"Stop the money, war will end," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I agree, anyone engaging in corruption should be sanctioned. But also, you got to stop pretending that Putin isn't the aggressor. Ukraine is the victim. Knock it off with the nonsense. You seem focused on only criticizing Ukraine but not Putin for some reason."

While sanctions aren't in the works at the moment, it'll be interesting to see if Trump considers such a move eventually.
