President Trump used the 90th anniversary of Social Security to highlight his commitment to America and its people - and not "illegal aliens who have no right to be here."

“To protect our benefits, we’ve already kicked nearly 275,000 illegal aliens off of the Social Security system,” Trump said during a ceremony inside the Oval Office.

Illegals booted off

Social Security is funded by payroll taxes that are taken out of workers' regular paychecks. The program is coming under increasing strain from an aging population even as birth rates hit historic lows, which means fewer workers to support the system.

Many Americans are concerned that they will not receive full benefits when their time comes to retire. The Social Security Trust Fund is widely projected to run out within the next decade, and no permanent solution has been proposed by either party to fix it.

While the program still needs fundamental reforms, Trump touted his efforts to ensure that benefits are available exclusively to Americans who pay for them throughout their working lives, and not those living and working in America illegally.

In particular, Trump said 275,000 illegal aliens were removed from the Social Security rolls.

"These are people, many of them have already left the country, and yet we were sending them checks all the time," Trump said.

A statement from the Social Security Administration was more ambiguous, saying it "updated the Social Security records of about 275,000 individuals no longer holding legal status."

Trump touts reforms

While illegal immigrants are ineligible for Social Security under federal law, many have fake or stolen identities, which they use to obtain unlawful employment and benefits at the expensive of Americans.

Trump said his Social Security reforms put Americans first, after Joe Biden nearly "destroyed" the social safety net by allowing a historic influx of illegal aliens into the country.

“Biden never kicked anybody off,” Trump later added.

“Everybody joined. And we’re carrying out historic deportations to remove many more illegals committing Social Security fraud. It’s a Social Security fraud that was taking place at levels that nobody’s ever seen.”

Trump also took credit for making Social Security more efficient, touting a 30% drop in office wait times, a 73% drop in call wait times, and a 26% reduction in the case backlog for disability benefits.

Trump also highlighted his new $6000 tax break for Americans aged 65 and over, which was included in his sweeping policy bill, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
