Trump enemy defends indictment of James Comey: 'Likely committed a crime'
Former Trump lawyer-turned-enemy Michael Cohen believes James Comey broke the law and he will be found guilty.
Cohen's surprising commentary left a panel of MSNBC talking heads speechless, Fox News reported.
“Wait, what?” panelist Molly Jong-Fast responded.
"Committed a crime"
Since Comey was indicted for perjury last week, the left has been in a full-blown panic. According to them, Trump is just arbitrarily seeking retribution against a political enemy.
But Cohen warned commentators not to get ahead of themselves.
"Who has seen a single document that is in the possession of DOJ? The answer is nobody," Cohen said.
"I believe likely he will be found guilty," Cohen said, adding Comey "likely committed a crime."
"I don’t know what that crime is, but there are hundreds of thousands of documents, and the government has each and every one of them, all they need to find is that one,” Cohen said.
Weaponization?
While Cohen agreed with the MSNBC panel that Trump is seeking retribution, that does not mean Comey is innocent, Cohen said.
He cited Comey's deep involvement in the corrupt Trump-Russia investigation, which left a stain on the FBI's reputation.
“I think your argument is it was weaponized then, by Comey against Donald Trump. That’s what you’re arguing right now,” panelist Elise Jordan said.
“And so you think that there will be evidence that will show that in court, and so thus validate Donald Trump’s vendetta against James Comey.”
“I couldn’t have said it better myself," Cohen said.
Interrupting the narrative
Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to lying to Congress, campaign finance violations and tax evasion charges. He has been an outspoken Trump critic ever since.
The perjury charge against Cohen stemmed from Robert Mueller's bogus Russian collusion probe, which consumed much of Trump's first term.
The leftists who are up in arms over Comey's prosecution supported the unprecedented lawfare campaign against Trump from Comey and others, like Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), who secured a corrupt verdict against Trump last year that Democrats used to brand Trump a "convicted felon." Cohen was the star witness in the blatantly political case, which relied on a bizarre and contrived legal theory to build a criminal case out of the years-old Stormy Daniels controversy.
Cohen is obviously no fan of Trump, but Cohen is not going along with the left's "weaponization" narrative. Even he agrees that Comey is a crook, despite the media's desperate attempts to make him out to be some kind of martyr.
