The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) just fired at least two individuals who worked for ex-special counsel Jack Smith.

This has now been reported by multiple outlets, including NBC News.

This comes after recent reports that the FBI, under the Biden administration, tracked the phone calls of a number of Republican members of Congress. There will be more on this in a moment.

The latest

According to NBC News' report, the FBI has fired at least two individuals.

Per the outlet:

The FBI took personnel action against three special agents who worked in connection with former special counsel Jack Smith's probe of Donald Trump, firing at least two, three people familiar with the matter told NBC News.

The outlet goes on to provide details about those fired.

It reports:

All three agents were previously named in documents released by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, about "Arctic Frost," an FBI probe that was the precursor to the Smith investigation, which resulted in two federal criminal cases against Trump: one for his handling of classified documents and the other involving his attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss, which ended in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. One of the fired FBI employees, a combat veteran who was months away from becoming eligible for retirement, was called back to the office after having left for the day and informed of the dismissal, a person familiar with the matter told NBC News. The other dismissed agent was also called back to the office after having left for the day, the person said.

The agents, at the time of this writing, have not been identified.

Breitbart News reports that the FBI has also fired agents involved in the surveillance of the Republican Congress members.

"FBI Director Kash Patel has fired agents involved in tracking phone calls of eight Republican senators and a congressman as part of former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of President Donald Trump," the outlet reports.

Patel is reported as saying, "You're darn right I fired those agents. You're darn right I blew up CR-15, the public corruption squad...we're just WARMING UP."

Investigations have been launched into the situation.

Patel insists that he will find "every single person involved."
