This past Tuesday saw New York City residents elect Democrat and self-described socialist Zohran Mamdani as its next mayor.

However, the new leader of America's largest city may find his agenda getting smacked down by Republicans in Washington.

Legislation aims to limit New York's federal funding

According to Fox News, Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter is introducing a bill known as the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests (MAMDANI) Act.

The two-page bill provides that "notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period in which Zohran Mamdani is mayor of New York… any unobligated Federal funds available" for the city "are hereby rescinded."

The legislation further maintains that "no Federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to New York, New York."

Carter was quoted as saying that Georgia taxpayers "should not be wasted on programs that will bankrupt the financial capital of the world."

Trump threatens to give "the very minimum"

"If New Yorkers want communism, we should let them have their wish and not artificially prop them up with our successful capitalist system," Carter said.

The GOP lawmaker went on to declare that "[a]ny New Yorker with common sense is welcome to move to the great, FREE state of Georgia."

Breitbart pointed out that President Donald Trump conveyed a similar message in a post to his Truth Social platform on Tuesday.

"If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!" Trump asserted.

"It can only get worse with a Communist at the helm, and I don’t want to send, as President, good money after bad," the president added.

Florida realtors see surge in business

Meanwhile, the website reported that realtors in Florida have seen an explosion of business in the weeks leading up to Mamdani's election victory.

Isaac Toledano is CEO of the Miami-based BH Group, and he explained that his company has recently "closed more than $100 million in signed contracts from New York buyers."

"I think the election accelerated how people make decisions. I think people are nervous [for] what’s coming, how it’s going to affect their lifestyle, the quality of life, taxes, potential of crime [or] no crime," Toledano speculated.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
