A third set of classified documents was found at in President Joe Biden's Delaware home, special counsel to the president Richard Sauber revealed on Saturday.

Sauber released a statement that added to a previous classified document found at the location.

The details

"Because I have a security clearance, I went to Wilmington Thursday evening to facilitate providing the document the President’s personal counsel found on Wednesday to the Justice Department," Sauber said.

"While I was transferring it to the DOJ officials who accompanied me, five additional pages with classification markings were discovered among the material with it, for a total of six pages. The DOJ officials with me immediately took possession of them."

The investigation

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed former Justice Department official Robert Hur to lead the Justice Department probe of the president's classified materials on Thursday.

"This appointment underscores for the public the department's commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters, and to making decisions indisputably guided only by the facts and the law," Garland said Thursday.

The announcement came after the White House repeatedly said on Thursday that the search for more classified documents had been completed.

Contents not known

The contents of the documents have not yet been made known, leaving the impact to the situation unclear to Americans.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has demanded a copy of Biden's visitor logs to his Delaware home, claiming that it is essential for Americans to know.

The timing of the classified documents has also been concerning. The initial discovery in Biden's Penn Center office was known prior to the midterm elections, but was not made public until later.

The latest finding adds even more controversy to the already chaotic events that come just ahead of Biden's plans to announce a run for reelection in 2024.
