DANIEL VAUGHAN: China's Talons Sink Into The Far-Left
In news that surprises likely no one, the Venn diagram of far-left protestors who hate Jews and Israel, work for radical socialists like Sohran Mamdani, and take money from the Chinese Communist Party is a perfect circle. It'd be nice if Democrats, who claimed foreign influence in Russia was bad, cared even a little about Chinese Communist propaganda.
The latest round of this comes from the "Jews for Mamdani" group in New York City. Mamdani is struggling with Jewish voters because of his ardent support for "globalizing the intifada," a phrase calling for the eradication of every Jew. He refuses to recant an openly genocidal message towards Jews, which naturally explains why they don't trust him.
That brings us to the "Jews for Mamdani" group. Who is running this group? Radical non-Jew leftists attached to the Chinese Communist Party.
The New York Post reports, "The niece of the China-based billionaire purportedly backing left-wing protest groups in the U.S.U.S. spearheaded the 'Jews for Zohran' Mamdani campaign — a bid to give the Israel-bashing candidate cover from antisemitism accusations and win over Jewish voters, The Post found. Marxist tycoon Neville' Roy" Singham's niece Alicia Singham Goodwin serves as political director of lefty nonprofit Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, which in January launched Jews for Zohran."
Congressional Republicans are already investigating Singham's connections to the CCP regarding attacks and protests against ICE. We know from that investigation:
The reclusive Neville Singham, who was born in Chicago but lives with his activist wife, Jodie Evans, in Shanghai, 'may have acted as an agent for the CCP' through his support of the demonstrations ... The letters focus in particular on Singham's ties to the Party for Liberation and Socialism (PSL), as well as the People's Forum and the ANSWER Coalition, but request information about 16 other groups.
We know those groups have been a part of targeted demonstrations against ICE and fomenting unrest in places like Los Angeles. This isn't a one-off, either. There were others connected to the Biden administration who had questionable ties to China.
It's not a surprise to see China pushing antisemitism because that has been a major source of contention over the banning of TikTok. China has pushed the app to funnel open antisemitism on the app. After the terrorist attacks on October 7 in Israel, TikTok, and China opened the floodgates to even more antisemitism, pushing every form of vile hatred imaginable.
This is one of many reasons TikTok should be shut down; it's nothing more than a mouthpiece for the CCP, which pushes racism and pro-CCP propaganda everywhere.
In short, there's a crossover between the ICE protests, antisemitism, and the radical surge we're witnessing in New York City through Zohran Mamdani's rise in politics. And all of this overlaps with a surge of Chinese Communist Party funding and activity in the United States.
This is not a grassroots effort; like every socialist or communist uprising in the past, foreign interlocutors are trying to stir things up. In the 20th Century, Joseph McCarthy may have had poor tactics. Still, he was correct: U.S.S.R. sympathetic communists had infiltrated the U.S. government. Later disclosures from the U.S.S.R.'s files confirmed this.
A generation later, the threat isn't from Russia but from Communist China. While that country has used some market reforms, it's still an authoritarian police state that relies heavily on communist trappings to maintain power. The Chinese Politburo has nothing on its Soviet counterparts, and like Vladimir Putin, they view the collapse of the U.S.S.R. as a sad event.
While I have little doubt Chinese communists have spies in the U.S.U.S. government, just as the Soviets did, we know that they're also targeting extremist groups. Based on the evidence we have, it's also clear they're infiltrating antisemitism and communist groups, and it looks like "Jews for Mamadani" could be one of them.
This isn't a grassroots group; this is astroturf. Radical leftists are trying to claim antisemitism isn't an issue because they found some token Jews to stand in as a shield against Mamdani supporting globalizing the intifada - which again is a call to eradicate all Jews worldwide.
This is a problem, however. The rise of antisemitism in New York City is built off the efforts and movements of people like Zohran Mamdani and the activists helping him. They are telling us who they are, and they'll happily line up with organizations with questionable ties to the Chinese Communist Party in those endeavors.
If you condemned Charlottesville but can't find any words for people like Mamdani, you're the problem. There are many liberals who fit this definition. They can see antisemitism if they think it's on the right. The moment antisemitism comes from the left, things get conveniently vague.
A simpler standard is this: 'Never again' means never again.
