DANIEL VAUGHAN: Donald Trump Should Cut Off The United Nations Over Funding Hamas Terrorists
It's become a borderline plank of the Republican Party to end funding to and pull out of the United Nations, but the pile of evidence is getting worse. It's not just that the United Nations is a corrupt organization filled with people milking taxpayer dollars. The problem is that the United Nations is employing, supplying, and aiding terrorist groups aimed at killing Americans and Jews. We need to defund it now.
The latest report comes from The New York Times, which got its hands on internal paperwork and documents from Hamas. The Iran-funded terrorist group responsible for the brutal October 7 attacks in Israel apparently keeps good records of its combatants. And we learn from these that Hamas has its fighters working in schools run by the United Nations across Gaza.
In one example, "Mr. al-Khatib, an employee of the U.N. agency since 2013, was among them: Secret internal Hamas documents shared with The New York Times by the Israeli government say that he held the rank of squad commander, was an expert in ground combat and had been given at least a dozen weapons, including a Kalashnikov and hand grenades."
Israel claims at least 100 more people within the United Nations school framework in Gaza are working for Hamas. In the example above, he'd been a member of Hamas since at least 2013 and was drawing cash in from the United Nations group while working for Hamas.
The UN Aid group involved, the UNRWA, claims these are all unfair attacks. They say this while the documents the Times examined showed 24 other terrorists working in UNRWA school facilities. It's long been known that Hamas hides missile sites under hospitals, schools, and near UN facilities. What better way to run those sites than to get employed by the UN groups running them?
What's worse, no one is getting fired or disciplined by the United Nations. The Times reports, "The seized records — coupled with interviews of current and former UNRWA employees, residents and former students in Gaza — offer the most detailed evidence yet of the extent of Hamas's presence inside UNRWA schools. In several cases, educators remained employed by UNRWA even after Israel provided written warnings that they were militants."
The United Nations says it requires employees to be honest in their applications. Here's how that works, "UNRWA relies on employees to self-report and provide confirmation of a clean record by way of a letter from the "de facto authorities." In Gaza, that means Hamas, and before Hamas took over in 2007, it meant the Palestinian Authority."
The UN and its helpful idiots look around and have prospective employees have Hamas verify whether or not the person standing in front of them has a clean record. Hamas is the one providing "background checks" to the United Nations, just as it provides the obviously faked death and injury accounts to international journalists too dumb to question anything.
What are UN officials worried about? This could get them shut down in Gaza and other places. The worry is less that they are employing literal terrorists to work with schoolchildren than it is to clean house, kick the bad apples out, and get real employees into these places. The UN could provide tangible aid to the communities, but instead, it's doing little more than providing steady income to the frontline soldiers of Hamas.
The United States needs to take action where the United Nations leadership will not. Donald Trump has an easy layup awaiting him to cut off all funding from these groups and demand they clean their act up. The United States has no business giving taxpayer money over to an organization that's giving aid and comfort to bloodthirsty terrorists.
The military actions of Israel have managed to divide Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas from each other. Iran is scared, Hezbollah has gotten beheaded, and Hamas is surrounded. The United Nations is providing one of the last lifelines to Hamas in the form of aid trucks. It's time to dry that up and cut off funding, support, and aid.
Everyone in the international community screams about aid to Gazans and ignores the part where Hamas and other groups steal everything before it makes it to any of the people. This aid and the money flowing in from the United Nations is the last lifeline, and it's time to cut it off.
In the meantime, the United Nations must also get cleaned up. We shouldn't support an organization that does more to help out groups trying to eradicate every Jew on earth. And lest we forget, Hamas took Americans hostage as well. We need to break both the United Nations and the terrorist groups attacking American citizens regularly.
