DANIEL VAUGHAN: It Turns Out Biden Released Murderers, Too

We were told, in 2020, that Biden's win marked the adults returning to be in charge. With each passing day that Trump is back in office, that 2020 slogan seems more and more like a bigger joke. Furthermore, as the media attempts to warm itself back up into being an "adversarial press" to the Trump administration, you realize just how low the bar is set.

During an interview, CBS anchor Margaret Brennan tried arguing with J.D. Vance about this. Brennan attempted to attack Vance over deportations, suggesting that the Trump team was preventing vetted migrants from entering the country. Vance countered and said a specific set of migrants hadn't been vetted. He pointed to a recent man in Oklahoma who was part of this vetting process and was arrested over terrorism charges.

Brennan is relying on the idea that the previous administration was on top of things. There's no evidence that this is true. Vance correctly took his stand on the terrorist point; he could have picked anything.

For example, Joe Biden pardoned more people in modern history than any previous president. We were told this was a thorough process, and the White House thought hard about it. Given what we know of Biden's physical and mental limitations, this claim doesn't even pass the smell test.

But beyond that, it's not matching reality, either. One of the sweeping things Biden did was issue broad, wide-sweeping commutations and pardons to 2,500 people with drug offenses on their record. Since Trump has finally taken office, we're seeing the ripple impacts of those pardons. These were not vetted.

One of Biden's commutations was for Adrian Peeler "served a 20-year state prison sentence for murder conspiracy in the 1999 shootings of Leroy "B.J." Brown and his mother, Karen Clarke, in Bridgeport — killings that shocked the city and led to improvements in state witness protection. Prosecutors said Brown and his mother were assassinated to prevent the child from testifying in another murder case."

The critical thing for our purpose is that he served his 20-year state sentence but was still in prison over federal charges. "In December 2021, Peeler finished his state sentence but began serving a 15-year term in federal prison for dealing large amounts of crack cocaine. The federal sentence would have kept him behind bars until 2033. He is now set to be released in July."

Both the victim's family and the state of Connecticut are furious. The Biden White House claimed they were aiming to release "nonviolent" felons charged with drug crimes. However, the Associated Press said, "It wasn't immediately clear how Peeler, now 48, came to Biden's attention, and the former president did not publicly disclose specific reasons for commuting Peeler's federal sentence."

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat in Connecticut, was shocked. "It seems to me that someone dropped the ball here to let this person get released," Blumenthal, who was Connecticut's attorney general at the time of the killings, said in a statement. "This was a really vicious murder that changed our laws. It also highlights how we need to take a look at the pardon system to see how it can be improved."

There's no going back, no changing anything. Biden is gone, his administration is out, and the decisions are final. No one can offer any explanations for why Biden's pardons and commutations have no explanation or let out violent criminals. Nor can anyone explain why Biden's vetting process is letting through alleged terrorists trying to kill Americans.

The Trump administration is right to order a full stop to everything because there's no evidence the Biden White House vetted anything. There's no evidence Biden was even in charge of his own faculties, let alone the sprawling federal government and all the decisions within it.

None of these facts even crossed the mind of Margaret Brennan or any of the national journalists out there. Biden threw open the floodgates to illegal immigration to start his term and cracked open the prisons at the end of his term. His final act was to pardon his family to protect them from criminal prosecution.

Who was making these decisions in the White House? No one knows. Why did they choose to claim some people are vetted and others are not? No one has an acceptable answer. We've got stories of violent criminals and terrorists running around free with Biden. Trump's putting a halt on those actions is a mercy.

We need answers on what the so-called adults did while in office. Biden did everything possible to shield his family, but there was more to it. Biden's pardon decisions were so bad that even Democratic Senators are demanding a change to the law over pardons.

Biden committed the indefensible. And yet, the press is pretending that we should accept the statements and assertions of a White House that was dishonest from day one. It's a ridiculous claim. We need more answers, not less.
