Since first launching his campaign nearly two years ago, former President Donald Trump has regularly touted his economic record.

Yet in a bombshell moment, one of President Joe Biden's cabinet secretaries recently confessed that the economy was "booming" under Trump.

Commerce secretary: Trump presided over "economic prosperity"

According to Breitbart, that admission was made by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo during a Tuesday appearance on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street."

Raimondo was at one point asked about Vice President Kamala Harris' economic program, with Sara Eisen noting that "the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget found that her plans would increase the federal budget deficits by 1.7 trillion."

"Now, neither party is really talking about fiscal responsibility, but the last thing we need now is to add to already very high deficits at a time of low unemployment," she continued before asking, "Does the party not care about that anymore?"

"Of course we do," said Raimondo, who added that it is "laughable" to "criticize Democrats about the deficit, when it was Donald Trump who exploded the deficit with his reckless tax cuts" during "a time of economic prosperity."

Poll shows voters trust Trump to lower prices

"Every business owner — as I used to be — every governor, every president knows, in good times, that’s when you want to save and bring down the deficit," she insisted.

"So, what Trump did was, somehow, he managed to explode the deficit, even in the middle of a booming economy," the commerce secretary declared.

Interestingly, Raimondo's remarks came less than a week after the release of a YouGov poll which found that voters are more likely to trust Trump over Harris when it comes to the economy.

Specifically, the survey reported that 42% of registered voters believe food and groceries will get more expensive if Harris is elected compared with 22% who expect them to get less expensive.

In contrast, 42% think that the cost of food and groceries will go down if Trump wins in November while just 37% believe they will become more costly.

J.D. Vance hits Kamala Harris on inflation

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance recently took aim at the vice president's approach to inflation.

"Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy, Shannon, it's like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy," Vance was quoted as telling Bream.
