There is growing speculation over who former President Donald Trump will pick to serve as his vice presidential candidate.

However, former Attorney General Bill Barr said this week that he is far more concerned about America's current vice president.

"The Republicans have to win in November"

According to Breitbart, the former attorney general made the point on Thursday during an interview with Fox Business host Larry Kudlow.

Barr told Kudlow he worries "very much" over the fact that Vice President Kamala Harris is "in the batting circle with Joe Biden," adding, "I feel that under these circumstances, the Republicans have to win in November."

What's more, Barr also made clear that he plans to cast his ballot for Trump despite the pair having a difficult history, saying, "Well, I’ve said, yeah, the choice now is a binary choice between these two candidates, and of the two, I support President Trump."

"And one of the reasons is because I think many of our critical problems, including deregulation, crime, restoring law and order, restoring control over our borders, rebuilding our defense in this increasingly dangerous world, standing by our allies, I trust President Trump to do that much more so than President Biden, I think," Barr added.

Barr calls Trump's New York case "a stain on the criminal justice process"

Barr also took aim at Trump's prosecution by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over an alleged payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

"I think this case is a stain on the criminal justice process. This is a case clearly of going after the man, not a crime," the former attorney general insisted.

"There is no crime here. There is no crime. Hush money is not a crime. Trying to protect your reputation is not a crime," he stressed.

"Entering into a non-disclosure agreement is not a crime, even if you’re running for office. There is no crime here. And they’re trying to manufacture one and they’re trying to hurt, interfere with the election," Barr declared.

Former attorney general says voting for Biden is "national suicide"

This is not the first time Barr has voiced support for his former boss, as earlier this month he suggested that reelecting Biden would be an act of "national suicide."

"The real threat to liberty, the real threat to our system, are the excesses of the progressive left," Breitbart quoted Barr as telling Fox News host Bill Hemmer on April 17.

"They are perverting the system of justice and that’s where the danger lies. The corruption and subversion of our institutions by the left," the former attorney general continued.

"I’ve said all along [that] given two bad choices, I think it's my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country and in my mind that's — I will vote the Republican ticket. I will support the Republican ticket," Barr declared.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
