CEO killed in 'freak' accident
A prominent chief executive officer was recently killed in what is being described as a "freak" accident.
The CEO, according to Fox News, was Kevin Colwell.
The 53-year-old Colwell was the founder and the CEO of the Albany law offices of Colwell Law Group.
What we know
Jennifer Stevens, the chief operating officer of the law firm, posted a statement on the company's Facebook page. There, she announced Colwell's passing.
She wrote:
It is with deep sorrow that the Colwell Law Group announces the passing of its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Colwell in a skiing accident at Gore Mountain today. The tragic loss has deply impacted all members of the organization.

The outlet writes:
The accident happened around 11 a.m. on Feb. 8 when officers with the State Police of Chestertown were called to the resort for reports of an injured skier . . . A severely injured skier, identified as Colwell, was found in the area of the Sagamore Trail, police stated. Officials said bystanders and ski patrol staff attempted all life-saving measures available, but despite their efforts, Colwell was pronounced dead at the scene.

"An immense tragedy"
Stevens called Colwell's death "an immense tragedy."
She wrote:
This is an immense tragedy for all of us at the Colwell Law Group. Kevin built not just a business, but a family, and the loss of his presence is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of working with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin's family during this incredibly difficult time. The leadership team is focused on supporting our employees and ensuring continuity within the organization.
Stevens went on to describe what Colwell meant to the firm.
She wrote:
The Colwell Law Group is an esteemed family law firm with a sterling reputation that Mr. Colwell built across teh Capital Region, Western and Central New York. With law offices in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Syracuse, and Rochester, the firm has been in practice for nearly two decades.
She added, "Mr. Colwell will be profoundly missed, but his impact will live on through the company and all those whose lives he touched.
