Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper welcomes first son with husband Matt Kaplan

Alex Cooper has welcomed her first child with husband Matt Kaplan, sharing their baby boy’s arrival on Instagram after months of talking openly about starting a family.

The 31-year-old “Call Her Daddy” host posted a photo of her newborn son on Tuesday, the infant resting in a fuzzy gray outfit with his face kept out of frame and the caption marked by a blue heart. Page Six reported the first-time parents’ announcement as the public debut of their son.

Cooper and Kaplan, both Unwell Network co-founders, had gone public with the pregnancy in May. She shared an Instagram maternity slideshow that showed her bump and carried a simple caption.

"Our family 🤍,"

That post set the stage for months of personal talk on her show about wanting a child once travel and career goals no longer felt unfinished. Celebrity baby news moves fast in the same lane as when Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey welcome another daughter, and Cooper’s reveal fit that familiar pattern.

She told listeners the gap in her life had become clear.

"The only thing that feels like it’s truly missing right now is a child and starting our own family together. And I have never felt more ready."

How she broke the news to Kaplan was pure Cooper: she handed him a positive pregnancy test and hoped he liked the “gift,” joking that it “was non-refundable.” She later described his reaction in detail.

"He looked so shocked. And then we both started crying. We didn’t even say anything in that moment. There were just no words. He pulled me onto his lap. We were hugging and kissing and crying."

She said they then “had the most incredible night” she would “forever and always cherish.” No birth location, hospital name, or baby name appeared in the initial report, only the Instagram image and the blue-heart caption.

From Zoom call to marriage in Mexico

Cooper and Kaplan met on a Zoom call in 2020 and began dating after a business dinner. He proposed in 2023. They married in Mexico in April of the following year. The former Barstool Sports personality has built “Call Her Daddy” into a major podcast brand while Kaplan worked beside her as a businessman and network co-founder.

Public family milestones for high-profile couples often draw heavy scrutiny, much like coverage of how Musk cut Ashley St. Clair’s monthly support after a very public child reveal. Cooper has pushed back on that kind of noise before.

On her podcast she dismissed marriage-on-the-rocks rumors outright, saying the people closest to them were not asking those questions and calling the speculation “an odd part of the job” she does not enjoy.

“No one in our life, our closest friends, our family, is wondering those things,” she said.

She waited until she felt ready

In 2025, Cooper explained why kids had not come sooner. She wanted time for the marriage, the work, and herself before motherhood.

"I really wanted to prioritize our relationship. I wanted to prioritize work and I wanted, honestly, most importantly, to prioritize myself. And overall, I just felt like I needed a little bit more time... to tackle motherhood."

The following month after the May pregnancy post, she told listeners she had finally “got the itch” to become a mom. Influencer family stories swing from joy to heartbreak in the public eye, including when lifestyle influencer Jennifer Burnham announces devastating personal loss, which is why straightforward birth announcements still land with force.

Tuesday’s photo closed that chapter. A first son. A blue heart. A couple that met on a work call now starting the family Cooper said she was ready to build.

In a culture that rushes every private milestone onto a feed, choosing the moment, and meaning it, still counts for something.
