Chris Christie, again, targets Trump

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), over the weekend, again targeted President Donald Trump.

Christie did so, according to Breitbart News, during an appearance on ABC's "This Week."

Apparently, Christie is displeased with the way that President Trump is handling the indictment of ex-FBI Director James Comey.

Christie, though, has a rather long history, at this point, of criticizing much of what Trump does.

Christie weighs in

The argument that Christie tried to make, during his television appearance, is that Trump's actions after Comey's indictment are going to make it difficult to actually get a conviction.

Christie said:

Let me say this, as someone who prosecuted these kind of cases, the fact is that the president has made it nearly impossible now to get a conviction because of the things he said, the way he’s prejudged the evidence, the way he said he’s a liar, he’s guilty, and the way he directed Pam Bondi by saying, Pam, it’s time to do this, when everyone knew that the statute was getting ready to run, the five-year statute on this statement, was getting ready to run on Tuesday. So that was the imperative that the president was talking about. It’s clear.

Christie wasn't finished.

He continued:

And so he’s made it very difficult for any prosecutor to be able to get a conviction on this case because on the face of his comments. He’s saying, ‘ Go get this guy. ‘ That’s not the president’s job. And, in fact, a jury may look at this, and certainly, as Dan said, a judge will look at this. The other problem is that we have a situation where everyone else that was waiting to see who is next, and when he was asked who is next, he said there will be others.

The president actually said that he "hopes" there will be others.

Background

Trump has indeed made some fairly strong statements following the indictment of Comey.

Here is one of the one's that Christie was referring to:

In another statement, Trump said, "They weaponized the Justice Department like nobody in history. What they’ve done is terrible, and so I hope, frankly, I hope there are others because you can’t let this happen to a country."

Is it such a bad thing to hope those who are corrupt and break the law get handed justice? Apparently, Christie thinks so.
