Clinton 2028 speculation explodes

Rumors about Hillary Clinton running for the U.S. presidency in 2028 have exploded.

What prompted the rumors, according to the Daily Mail, is Clinton's upcoming event schedule.

Clinton, herself, has not made any remark on the subject.

It is well-known, however, that Clinton still holds a grudge for losing to President-Elect Donald Trump in the 2016 election, and there were rumors that Clinton was attempting to position herself for a run in the 2024 election.

The latest

What prompted the latest speculation is an event that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton will participate in on Dec. 7, 2024.

A press release for the event states that the Clintons will:

share reflections on the noble and important work of public service – from securing peace, prosperity, and progress during the Clinton administration to uplifting millions of people in Arkansas and around the world through the work of the Clinton Foundation and empowering the next generation of leaders through the Clinton School.

It further states, "The conversation will serve as a clarion call for the future that guides the ongoing work of the Clinton Center: we all share the responsibility to act and we all do better when we work together."

In response to this, many political insiders argued that this is proof that Clinton is setting herself up for a presidential run in 2028.

Trump Senior Advisor Jason Miller, for example, wrote, "SHE'S RUNNING!"

Looking forward

At this point, it is hard to imagine this happening for several reasons.

Clinton would be 81 years old in 2028, but that is not her biggest issue. Many believe that Trump essentially ended her political career in 2016 - that Clinton is damaged goods.

Interestingly, not even Bill Clinton himself would expect his wife to win in the 2028 presidential election. He recently did an interview in which he argued that the likelihood is that the first female president of the United States will be a conservative.

"I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win," Clinton said. He attempted to explain:

I think in some ways we’ve moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would’ve walked in, just like Obama did. Well, I think all these cultural battles that we’re fighting make it harder in some ways for a woman to run

We will have to see how things play out in the next four years.
