While Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar has long been known for making vitriolic comments about Israel, she isn't the only member of her family with animosity towards the Jewish state.

According to Breitbart, Omar's daughter was recently removed from college for participating in an anti-Israel encampment.

Isra Hirsi suspended from Barnard College

The website noted that Isra Hirsi complained on Thursday of being suspended by Barnard College, which is located in New York City near Columbia University.

Hirsi said in a social media post that she is "an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest" before adding that she has "never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings" while studying for the past three years at Barnard College.

Hirsi went on to say that she and two others have been "suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide."

Illegal encampment proclaimed as a "liberated zone"

She later said in a subsequent post that "those of us in Gaza Solidarity Encampment will not be intimidated. we will stand resolute until our demands are met."

"Our demands include divestment from companies complicit in genocide, transparency of [Columbia University's] investments and FULL amnesty for all students facing repression," Hirsi added.

Breitbart noted that video footage has emerged on social media showing an illegal encampment on the campus of Columbia University.

The area was festooned with signs bearing such slogans as "Liberated Zone," "Gaza Solidarity Encampment," "Barnard Students Say: Divest Before Donations," and "Black lives 4 Palestine."

For its part, Barnard College issued a statement which read, "Before noon on April 17, Columbia made multiple requests that students participating in the unauthorized encampment leave the lawn."

Jamal Bowman says suspension is retaliation against Omar

"A number of Barnard Senior Staff also went to the lawn to ask Barnard students participating in the encampment to leave and to advise Barnard students that they would be subject to sanctions at Barnard if they did not leave the encampment," it stressed.

Like Omar, New York Democratic Rep. Jamal Bowman is a member of the far-left Squad, and Fox News reported that he alleged that Hirsi's suspension was an act of retaliation against her mother.

"It's clear what is happening here. Our educational institutions should not be in the business of political reprisals," Bowman posted online.
